For the New York City Office of Public Advocate
In August, we filed an exploratory interest, and today, following the latest City Hall debacle, I'm confirming my candidacy for the role of Public Advocate.
We are all forced to live with the problems created by bail reform, sanctuary city policies, low standards, corruption, and dishonesty. The New Yorkers I met during my congressional campaign asked, "Is NYC beyond repair?"
I say no. We all know New York has bounced back before. Our campaign will call on you, the voters, to perform your civic duty and vote for leaders focused on core issues.
NYC should be a role model for municipal excellence. To achieve this, we need to change two things.
First, we need to confront incompetence at City Hall along with the dishonest Socialist mentality of trying to make everyone happy, which instead has made the majority of New Yorkers worse off.
Therefore, in addition to voting out Eric Adams, I call on NYC’s voters to clean house and replace Brad Lander and Jumaane Williams. The entire team that created this mess has to go.
Second, we must focus NYC on municipal excellence — safety, sanitation, schools, and infrastructure — not non-core issues such as international wars, illegal campus protests, and dangerous experiments in criminal law.
NYC should attract outstanding people for all jobs, trim its budget and cut taxes, speed up some programs, eliminate others, and, most importantly, revitalize New Yorkers’ belief in the greatest city in the world.
A back-to-basics strategy will refocus NYC on doing fewer things but doing them exceptionally well as measured on a global standard.
It is time for NYC to retake the lead. You bring your votes, and I will bring my international and financial expertise to help NYC achieve municipal excellence in its core functions.
I look forward to meeting you during our campaign.
